Conjunctions

1) Ama - Ancak - Fakat - Lakin (But)
Bu üç kelime de aynı anlamda. Bunların arasında en yaygın olan ise "ama" kelimesi.
(These three words have the same meaning. The most common of these is the word "ama".)
 

• ​Buraya geldi ama benimle konuşmadı. 

(He came here, but he wouldn't talk to me.)

• Yazı yazdı ancak bana okumadı.

(She wrote, but she didn't read it to me.)

​

​

• Ona soru sordum fakat bana cevap vermedi.

(I asked her a question, but she wouldn't answer me.)

​

​

• Çok çalıştım lakin sınavı kazanamadım.

(I worked hard, but I didn't pass the exam.)

​

2) Da / De (too, including, also, n/either, as well)

de, de bağlacı kelimeyle birlikte değil, ayrı yazılır. Eğer birlikte yazarsanız "bir yerde bulunmak"tan bahsedersiniz. 

(The conjunction "de, da" is written separately, not with the word. If you write it together, you are talking about "being in a place".)

• Ben de sizinle gelmek istiyorum.

(I want to come with you too.)

​

• Tavuk eti yemiyorum, balık eti de yemiyorum. 

(I don't like chicken meat, and I don't like fish meat either.)

​

​

• Sen muhtemelen bundan da korkarsın.

(You probably fear this as well.)

​

​

• İstanbul'a da gideceğim, İzmir'e de. 

(I will also go to Istanbul, and to Izmir as well.)

​

3) Ve (And)

İki cümleyi, birbirleri arasındaki ilişkiyi göstermek için birbirine bağlar. 

(It connects two sentences to show the relationship between them.)

​

• Ahmet ve Melih buraya geldi. 

(Ahmet and Melih came here.)

​

​

• Elma ve portakal yedim.

(I had an apple and an orange.)

​

• Oradan kitap ve kalem aldım. 

(I bought books and pens there.)

​

​

• Sokaktaki kediyi ve köpeği gördün mü?

(Have you seen the cat and the dog on the street?)

​

3) Veya / Ya da (Or)

Bu bağlaç, iki veya daha fazla şey arasındaki alternatifleri veya seçimleri sunmak için kullanılan bir bağlaç.

(It's a conjunction used to present alternatives or choices between two or more things.)

​

• Çay veya kahve içebilirsin. 

(You can have tea or coffee.)

​

​

• Kitabı şimdi okuyabilirsin veya sonra okuyabilirsin.

(You can read the book now or later.)

​

​

• Kırmızı ya da mavi elbise arasında seçim yapabilirsin.

(You can choose between the red or blue dress.)

​

​

• Sinemada komedi ya da aksiyon filmi izleyebiliriz. 

(We can watch either a comedy or an action movie at the cinema.)

4) ki (That / So that, such)

ki, Türkçe'ye Farsça'dan gelen bir bağlaç. Genelde cümleye "böylece, şu şekilde" gibi anlamlar verir.

(The conjunction "ki", came to Turkish from Persian. Usually, it gives meanings like 'thus' or 'in this manner' to the sentence.)

• O kadar iyi bir insan ki tarif etmek zor.

(He's such a good person, it's hard to describe.)

​

​

• Bana anlat ki sana yardım edeyim.

(Tell me so I can help you.)

​

​

• Ben sandım ki buraya geliyorsun.

(I thought that you were coming here.)

​

​

• Biraz sus ki ben de konuşayım.

(Shut up so I can talk.)

​

5) Hatta / Hatta .... bile (Even, in fact)

Bu bağlacı genelde, şaşırtıcı veya aşırı bir şeyi vurgulamak için kullanırız.

(We usually use this conjunction to emphasise something surprising or extreme.)

​

• O beni aradı hatta özür bile diledi.

(He called me and even apologised.)

​

​

• Ben ona iyi davrandım, hatta ona yardım ettim. 

(I was nice to him, even helped him.)

​

​

• Siz beni ziyaret etmediniz, hatta beni aramadınız bile.

(You didn't visit me, you didn't even call me.)

​

​

• Onun iki kedisi var, hatta bir de köpeği var. 

(She has two cats and even a dog.)

​

6) Ne ... ne / ne de (Neither ... nor)

Bu bağlaç, bir cümlede, olumlu görünen birden çok fiile aslında olumsuz anlam veren bağlaçtır.

(This conjunction is a conjunction that gives a negative meaning to multiple verbs that appear positive in a sentence.)

​

• Ne sebze seviyorum ne de meyve. (İkisini de sevmiyorum.)

(I like neither vegetables nor fruits. (I don't like either of them.)

​

​

• Ben ne ona söyledim ne sana. (İkinize de söylemedim.)

(I didn't tell either him or you. (I didn't tell either of you.)

​

​

• Ben ne İzmir'de yaşamak istiyorum ne de Ankara'da. (İkisinde de yaşamak istemiyorum.)

(I don't want to live neither in Izmir nor in Ankara. (I don't want to live in either of them.)

​

​

• Onun ne evi var ne de arabası. (İkisi de yok.)

(She has neither a house nor a car. (She doesn't have either of them.)

​

7) Hem ... hem / hem de (Both)

Bu bağlaç, bir cümledeki birden fazla olayın aynı anda doğru olduğunu gösterir.

(This conjunction indicates that more than one event in a sentence is true at the same time.)

​

• Hem sebze seviyorum hem de meyve. (İkisini de seviyorum.)

(I like both vegetables and fruits. (I like both of them.)

​

​

• Ben hem ona söyledim hem sana. (İkinize de söyledim.)

(I told both him and you. (I told both of you.)

​

​

• Ben hem İzmir'de yaşamak istiyorum hem de Ankara'da. (İkisinde de yaşamak istiyorum.)

(I want to live both in Izmir and Ankara. (I want to live in both cities.)

​

​

• Onun hem evi var hem de arabası. (İkisi de var.)

(She has both a house and a car. (She has both of them.)

​

7) Rağmen / Halde (Despite / Although)

Bu bağlacı, iki fikir veya durum arasındaki karşıtlığı veya zıtlığı ifade etmek için kullanıyoruz. Bunu şöyle bir cümlede kullanabilirsiniz:

(It's used to express contrast or opposition between two ideas or situations. You can use it in a sentence like this:)

• Yağmur yağmasına rağmen dışarı çıktık.

(We went out despite the rain.)

​

​

• Çok yorgun olmasına rağmen çalışmaya devam etti.

(Although he was very tired, he continued to work.)

​

​

• Saat çok geç olmasına rağmen hala çalışıyordu. 

(Although it was very late, he was still working.)

​

​

• Çok yorgun olduğu halde çalıştı. 

(He worked despite being very tired.)

​

​

• Gece olduğu halde sokaklar oldukça kalabalıktı.

(Despite it being night, the streets were quite crowded.)
